Medicine admission test

Following June 2025 Minister of University Decree, entry exam to Medicine programs in Italian (TOLC-MED) is replaced by an open semester from the 1st of September to the 30th of November. At the end of this term, students will be required to take 3 exams on the attended courses: biology, chemistry and physics.

Students will have to register to the open semester by the end of July through Universitaly portal.

The exams will be the same in all the Universities  and it will consists of:

    Enrollment timeline

    Each year the Italian Ministry of Education releases updates for the admission process with precise dates etc. Those are usually released around May-June. Below are estimates based on previous years.

    APRIL: Pre-enrollment at the Italian embassy/consulate in country of origin*
    Documents needed: Declaration of Value; legalized and apostilled translation of High School Diploma

    APRIL 3rd to APRIL 17th: Registration for the Admission test universitaly.it

    MAY 28th -29th or July 30th -31st: Admission test

    JULY – AUGUST: Visa application*
    Documents needed: Confirmation letter of application to the exam; International Health Insurance; Declaration of Financial capacity

    SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER: Enrollment
    Documents needed: Passing the admission test, Student visa + Permit of stay, Payment of the tuition fee for the first year

    *This step is only for non-european students.

    Studying Medicine in Italy: costs

    Italian Medicine universities offer affordable education options to both EU and non-EU students.

    Public universities, known for their good reputation in academics, usually charge lower tuition fees compared to private ones: the fees at public universities can range from about €200 to €5,200 per year.
